Plot and Characters
The series centers on Geonhwa, a talented casino dealer whose life is thrown into turmoil after a housing fraud scandal destroys her wedding plans and financial security. With few options left, she must re-enter the perilous realm of gambling and high-stakes casino play to rebuild her life.
Jung So-min, known for her roles in popular Korean productions, has been cast as Geonhwa. Other notable cast members include Ryoo Seung-bum, Lee Soo-hyuk, and Ryu Kyung-soo in key roles that heighten both the drama and tension within the casino’s shadowy corridors.
Creative Team and Production
While Hwang Dong-hyuk is serving as producer, The Dealer will be directed by Choi Young-hwan, an acclaimed cinematographer making his directorial debut. Choi’s past work includes several successful Korean films and is expected to bring dynamic visual storytelling to the series. The script is penned by writers Ohnooy and Lee Tae-young.
The series is produced by Firstman Studio, the team behind Squid Game, further cementing the creative continuity with Hwang’s earlier success.
Global Anticipation and Release
